New Noh Performance: The Noh of Life – Circle of Water
Yamamoto Noh Theater, known for preserving Japan's traditional performing arts, will perform together with KURAGE Band, which brings together diverse world cultures through music (Two performances starting at 13:00 and again at 16:30). Yamamoto Noh Theater and KURAGE Band have collaborated many times in the past.
In the June 18 performance, they are attempting a project to create a symbolic “old pine tree” together with 10,000 people. This process has involved children from hospitals and schools ranging from ages 0 to 120, working together even before the performance.
The new Noh performance “Inochi no Noh: Mizu no Wa” (Noh of Life: Circle of Water) is a participatory piece themed around the water and environment of Osaka, the water city.
It offers an opportunity to learn about traditional Noh while reflecting on the environment.
It will be exciting to see how KURAGE Band, a cultural hub connecting Japan and the world through music, will resonate with this theme.
This is a collaboration only possible at the Expo.
* Advance registration for the 13:00 performance has closed due to high demand.
