World Play and Learn Summit is a shared philosophy of “creating a generative space where diverse lives can shine with excitement as themselves,” bringing together various organizations to discuss and express the future of play and learning across national, social, and generational lines. It is an important initiative in realizing the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan theme, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” Within the thematic project and this "signature event,” producer NAKAJIMA Sachiko’s “Playground of Life: Jellyfish Pavilion” (Theme: Invigorating Lives) creates a collaborative space to feel the joy and pleasure of living through play, learning, sports, and the arts.

Raising the question “Is it really just trash?” This project has been turning garbage into art for the past three years. At the “Gomi Art Contest” held on March 16, 2025, prize-winning works were exhibited. Talks titled “Waste Issues in Asia” and “Waste and the Expo” were held. The event will feature online sessions connecting with globally active waste artist NAGASAKA Mago, based in Ghana. There were also hands-on activities like PC dismantling, making instruments from trash, and workshops using membrane edge scraps. The grand finale of the “Gomi Matsuri” was a live performance by the multinational “KURAGE Band” led by NAKAJIMA, where high school students from Osaka joined in using instruments they created from waste, an experience to feel that “anything has value, and you can create it yourself!”
